Effective on Monday, 6th September, a change is introduced in the way Fronter Administrator's receive data on their Today pages.
What is the impact for me? If you are a Fronter administrator you will notice significantly faster loading times for your Today page. The Today page will only show information from rooms in which you are a full member. As an administrator you will still be able to access all rooms and information via the ‘Display all rooms’ list.
Why is this change introduced? This change is introduced both
- as a part of an on-going process of enhancing the performance and stability of the Fronter hosting centre, and
- so as to make the Today pages more usable for Administrators, who may in total have access to thousands of rooms.

In the evening of the 29th of September Elluminate will be upgraded to Elluminate Live 10!
Focus in this release has been usability and performance.
The biggest new feature in this release is the Activity window. This is a real improvement, especially for those using screen readers which then can focus on only this window and get info regarding what goes on in the chat, participant list, and whiteboard. An especially cool feature is that text f.i. in powerpoint presentation shown on the whiteboard also is shown in the activity window.
In addition audible notifications has been added, given users with trouble seeing a heads up f.i. when someone leaves or enters a room.
It has been added more keyboard-shortcuts and also easier navigation between the modules using the F6 key.
The participant window is now configurable, but it is worth noticing that the name is as a standard moved from the right to the left. This is done to improve the experience for users that rely on screen-readers.
On the performance side we can mention that automated proxy detection has been added, and optimization for multiple talker(s) on the same microphone.
Of course there have also been done some improvements to the general functionalit likethe possibility to add text associated with the timer, and improvements to the whiteboard screen-explorer.

Due to a MySQL upgrade customers may experience down time over the next couple of weeks between August 3rd - 12th. The Process will vary from less than 5 minutes to up to two hours, depending on the size of the installation. If your installation is affected, please expect to be contacted by Fronter in the near future. If you have questions about the upgrade and how it may affect you, please contact your local Fronter office.

SOY Process 2010

Based on the feedback from the SOY process last year, your MIS integrations will be automatically deactivated on 15th July 2010. Some LA’s have opted for different dates for the integrations to be switched off, if this is the case you will have been informed. This is to ensure that data being sent from the schools MIS system is not imported into Fronter before you have had the opportunity to archive your previous academic year’s rooms. This change will help to ensure a smoother start of year process. Once the MIS has been switched off, the Fronter administrator can re-activate the schools integration at any time, once they have completed the SOY process by following these instructions:
- Login using your administrator account - Click “Admin” - Click onto the name of your school - Click “Tools” - Click “Fronter Integration Setup” - Tick the check box next to the name of your MIS integration - Click the “Activate” button
Important: Please ensure that you have completed the SOY process prior to re-activating the MIS integration. Start of Year (SOY) Improvements: Administrator Room Activation: Administrators can copy from any room, regardless of whether they are explicitly enrolled as a member of the room. Archive Date added to Archive rooms tab: The date that the room has archived will be shown, to allow you to differentiate between the previous academics year’s archived rooms. Archived rooms added to disk storage statistics: A checkbox has been added to the disk space usage statistics to allow you to filter on archived rooms so that you can see how much disk storage the archived rooms are taking up.
