TOPIC: Student read and write access to a room

Student read and write access to a room 11 months ago #1326

Hi.

I would like to set up a room where there is a folder containing numerous Fronter 'Pages', one for each student in the class. Each page is to be used as a sort of biography for each student, readable by all members in the class but each only editable by each individual student to whom it refers (and me of course!)

Is this possible?

Thanks.

One way is if the student makes an article (or more) which you as teacher include in a page that you have made.

I would do the following setup:

  1. Start with making a folder for this function
  2. Make one page for each student (in the folder you just created) in your class with the students name
  3. Place each page in it's own _files hidden folder
  4. For each _files folder, edit the properties so that it's a normal folder
  5. Make one template Article for the Students content
  6. Tell each student to copy this article to there own folder
  7. Insert the students article to his/her page
  8. Now create a learningpath
  9. Add all students pages to the learning path

Once you (or your students) have looked at all students in the class (from the learning path document), you will have a document with a dropdown menu from which you can select student by name.

I had thought of Articles as I cam in this morning, where the article resides in a student's personal folder, and is displayed as part of a page in the teacher area.

I had not considered learning paths though ... hmmmm ... Thanks.
